Before and after bilateral earlobe repair and repiercing in a 32-year-old woman.
She had developed a complete split of her lobules after wearing heavy earrings for many years. Now her earlobes were reacting to nickel-containing clip-on earrings, causing irritation, redness and swelling.
Once she gave her earlobes several weeks without wearing the clip-ons to allow her lobule tissue to calm down, combined lobule repair and repiercing was performed together under local anesthesia in our office operating room.
After surgery, she wore the 14K gold earrings that we inserted at surgery for a full six months to avoid any problems with healing. Follow up photos are shown 1 year after surgery, with her final result and a happy patient!
