Before and after bilateral breast augmentation and mastopexy in a 41-year-old woman. She had initially considered just having a breast lift, but realized she also wanted a subtle increase in her upper pole breast fullness - so that she had the look of wearing a slightly padded bra, but to still look natural. She sought us out because of our natural-looking results, even when a breast implant is used.

A breast lift raised and centralized the position of her nipples and areolas on the breast. Mastopexy surgery requires creation of a lollipop scar in most cases: The incision around the areola is used to reduce the areola diameter (when appropriate) and to lift the nipples to a higher position on the breast. The vertical incision is used to “tuck” the bottom of the breast and reduce lower pole baggy skin. This is analogous to putting a dart in a dress so that the fabric hugs the breast form and has a nice feminine contour.

For her augmentation, small volume smooth round silicone gel breast implants were placed on top of the muscle, in the subglandular position. Long-term follow up photos are shown 2 years after surgery, with a natural looking and proportional result.
