Before and after abdominoplasty with rectus diastasis correction in a 38-year-old mother of three, including a set of twins. She was very slender and physically active, but her abdominal muscle separation caused her back pain and a sense of core instability. She was looking to reconstruct her abdominal muscles and get back to doing planks, push-ups and Pilates without feeling like her “guts were going to fall out”.

An abdominoplasty removed excess skin from her lower abdomen, as shown in the last set of photos. Her rectus abdominis muscles were severely separated, as shown in the last photo. They were repaired back to one another in the midline, her abdominal wall was pulled snugly downward, and her belly button was brought out through a new skin opening.

A small amount of liposuction removed fat from her abdomen and pubic region. Long-term follow up photos are shown 3 years after surgery, with mature scars, a competent abdominal wall, and a satisfied patient!
