Before and after liposuction of the arms in a 63-year-old woman. At the same time as a breast reduction and liposuction of the axillary rolls and abdomen, she wished to improve the contour of her arms. She initially thought she needed skin removal, but was relieved to learn that she could achieve improvement using liposuction of the arms alone.
Through tiny (2-3 mm) incisions designed in skin creases around each elbow and armpit region, liposuction removed excess fat from her circumferential upper arms. After surgery, she wore a compression garment that encouraged her upper arm skin to more rapidly and evenly contract to the new arm contour for a full six weeks.
Follow up photos are shown 16 months after surgery. Her upper arm skin has contracted nicely, and she has normal age-appropriate skin laxity of the lower inner upper arms, as seen by mild skin wrinkles. She appreciates her results, is grateful that she did not have the long brachioplasty (full arm lift) scar, and feels more comfortable wearing short-sleeved dresses and tank tops now!
