Before and after body contouring in a 35 year old man. He had lost a significant amount of weight through hard work on his own (a healthy diet and regular exercise). He had maintained a stable weight for over 2 years. He had stubborn persistent areas of fat including his abdomen, flanks and back that stayed despite his best efforts. He wished to improve his body contour and to have the very best outcome.

Body contouring included a male abdominoplasty and aggressive ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL) of the flanks (love handles, muffin top) and his back. The lower abdominal scar was designed to be hidden in his swim trunks and briefs. His belly button was moved to a higher position on the abdominal wall to allow for removal of the maximum amount of skin (note the position of his abdominal mole before and after surgery to get an idea of the extent of skin and fat removal).

Approximately 3 liters of fat was removed from his flanks, abdomen and back rolls. Whereas he had somewhat of a female body form before surgery, he looks more masculine afterward.

Early follow up photos are shown 3 months after surgery. He has a significantly improved contour but as expected, residual firm swelling (edema) that creates wrinkling of the skin and is completely normal so early after surgery. This type of edema after UAL takes up to a full year to resolve completely. His scars are swollen and pinkish-red; they will continue to fade and flatten over the next year.

He has much more self-confidence and is motivated to keep up his healthy lifestyle. He has resumed exercise; he still wears his compression garment at night and is actively doing scar therapy.
