Before and after Plastic Surgical excision of a left cheek mole. Although it was this 45 year old woman’s signature mole, she was tired of having it! It started off flat but slowly grew from her mid 20’s to the present time.

This types of mole is called a “compound nevus” because it contains features of the epidermis (the top layer of skin) and the dermis (which contains pigment cells and hair follicles).
This mole was excised in the office under local anesthesia and microscope glasses called surgical “loupes). A precise Plastic Surgery closure was performed to allow for the very best surgical scar.

Follow up photos are shown one month after surgery. Although there is a fine scar, her mole is gone and she has gained a whole new level of confidence without her “distracting mole”! Over the next several months the scar will fade and flatten further.
