Before and after bilateral breast reconstruction revision in a 45-year-old woman with breast cancer. After bilateral mastectomies and implant reconstruction, she developed painful capsular contracture and deformity.
Her revision involved removal of the old implants, capsulectomy to remove excess scar tissue and implant exchange. Her nipples and areolas were lifted to a higher position by redoing her old lollipop scar. After surgery, she required additional chemotherapy and left chest wall radiation.
Long-term follow up photos are shown 7 year after surgery. Despite significant weight gain following chemotherapy and radiation, her breast reconstruction is still proportional to the rest of her body, and she has kept a soft, natural looking breast reconstruction result.
