Before and after delayed breast implant reconstruction and a balancing left breast lift with liposuction of the axillary rolls in a 63-year-old breast cancer survivor.

Twenty years previously, she underwent a right mastectomy and implant reconstruction with a saline implant that had completely deflated a few years ago.  She was told elsewhere that she would need to “start all over again” with tissue expansion over several months.

Thankfully, she found our practice!  We do not use tissue expanders or put implants under the muscle – and rarely need to use other products such as dermal matrix or mesh in aesthetic or reconstructive surgery.  Since she was not missing any breast skin and had not been radiated, she could simply have a new full-sized silicone gel breast implant inserted on top of the muscle, in the prepectoral position.

At the same time, a left mastopexy using the auto-augmentation technique was performed.  Liposuction removed excess fat from her armpits and bra rolls.

Follow up photos are shown 2 years after surgery.  She has been able to move forward from her cancer experience and is no longer reminded of her diagnosis every time she gets dressed or undressed.
