Before and after bilateral breast revision in a 20-year-old woman. She had a breast reduction several years previously. Unfortunately, her autoimmune condition flared after surgery, resulting in delayed healing of most of her incisions. She eventually healed by secondary intent with months of wound care and an overabundance of emotional support.

She was left with scars that were stretched and unsightly, and loss of much of her areola pigment from delayed healing and melanocyte (pigment cell) injury. She had residual excess fat in her bra roll region that bulged out of her tank tops.

Her breast revision involved medical tattoo of her nipples and areolas and liposuction of her bra roll and “dog ears” debulked these areas of unwanted fullness. Follow up photos are shown 8 months after her revision procedure.

Our office no longer offers medical tattoo – we now refer out to local medical tattoo artists who are experts in three-dimension shading and nipple-areola reconstruction after breast cancer treatment.
