Before and after breast augmentation revision in a 30 year old woman. Her previously placed implants were under the muscle, causing chronic muscle strain and tightness. She had tried everything she could think of to avoid surgery, including physical therapy, stretching, anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxants. All she needed was her muscles returned to her chest wall!

Her revision procedure involved reusing her existing scar under the breast in the inframammary fold, removing her old implants, separating her pectoralis major muscles from the undersurface of her breast tissue, and returning her muscles to their anatomic location on the chest wall. The muscle was sutured back in place to the sternum and ribs, reconstructing her anatomy.

New smooth round silicone gel breast implants were placed in a new subglandular pocket, on top of the muscle. Immediately upon awakening, her muscle tightness was gone! She resumed exercise at 4 weeks after surgery and felt so much more comfortable flexing her chest muscles. Follow up photos are shown 3 months postoperatively.
