56-year-old woman with a left mastectomy for breast cancer, chemotherapy and radiation. She wished to have a reconstruction result fuller than her natural breast size, similar to a breast augmentation she had prior to having breast cancer (both implants were removed at the time of cancer diagnosis). Her left breast was reconstructed using a DIEP flap. Six months later, implants were placed beneath her flap and her natural breast for an augmented yet natural breast reconstruction result that counteracted many of the damage from radiation therapy. Postoperative images one year after surgery are shown.
