Before and after breast reduction, lift and liposuction of the axillary rolls in a 55 year old mother of four. She experienced all the expected symptoms of macromastia (heavy, drooping breasts) and she had thought about a breast reduction and lift forever. She did not want to be too small as she wanted to still suit the rest of her body – which is always our goal in Plastic Surgery!

A breast reduction removed heavy excess breast tissue from the bottom and sides of her breasts. Her remaining breast tissue was reshaped and rearranged to sit higher on her chest and for all of the breast tissue to lie ABOVE her inframammary fold. Note the before and after comparison, particularly on the side view!

A breast reduction always involves a breast lift. The areolas are resized to be more proportional with the smaller and lifted breast. Liposuction of the axillary rolls permanently removes fat from the armpit area, the sides of the breasts and the upper back fat/bra roll.

Follow up photos are shown at 3 months after surgery. Her incisions are pink, as expected for early on in her healing. She still has firm swelling, known as edema, in the liposuction areas. This will continue to soften over the next several months. Like all our breast reduction patients, she is wondering what took her so long to have this surgery! It really is a life-changing procedure.
