Before and after bilateral breast reduction and lift in a 26-year-old woman with breast asymmetry.  She had lost weight recently and developed loss of structure and droop of her breasts, as if she had breastfed – which she had not!  She was looking for slightly smaller, much more symmetric and lifted breasts.

Approximately 200 grams of tissue was removed from her left larger breast (less than a cup of milk, if you were to visualize the volume removed), and 120 grams from her right smaller breast (less than a half cup of milk).  Her remaining breast tissue was lifted and reshaped using the auto-augmentation technique.

For the auto-augmentation technique of mastopexy, a pocket is created higher up on the chest wall under the breast in the subglandular position, and the breast is rotated into this space, just as for a breast augmentation.  Except in this case, instead of a breast implant, the patient’s own tissue is used to fill the breast.

Follow up photos are shown 10 months after surgery.  She appreciates her improved symmetry, smaller size, and youthful lift to her breasts!
