Before and after bilateral breast reduction and lift with liposuction of the axillary rolls in a 25-year-old woman.  She had to wear a bra all the time just to alleviate the strain on her neck, shoulders and upper back – even during sleep!

A breast reduction removed approximately half of her breast tissue and lifted and reshaped the rest using the auto-augmentation technique.  Liposuction removed unwanted fat from her armpits and bra rolls.  She went home the same day and took a full month off work.

Early follow up photos are shown just 6 weeks after surgery.  Her incisions are still healing, and she is not yet ready to start scar therapy.  Her areola pigment is a little lighter at present, which is quite common in patients with more melanin (darker skin tones).  The pigment-producing cells called melanocytes will gradually recover and produce normal skin pigment with healing, filling out her normal areola color again.

Over the next six weeks, her breasts will settle, and she will resume all her activities.  Swimming should be postponed until all wounds are closed and there are no more scabs.
