Before and after bilateral breast reduction and lift as the chosen breast reconstruction method in a 44-year-old woman with right breast cancer. She wanted to avoid a mastectomy and was a candidate for breast reduction surgery, even without a breast cancer diagnosis.

She needed a second right lumpectomy and postoperative radiation – a combined breast cancer excision and reconstructive procedure was planned, to include a right “local tissue rearrangement” (breast lift) and a balancing left breast reduction and lift with liposuction of the axillary rolls.

Radiation therapy started 6 weeks after surgery. The right breast was made slightly larger than the left, as radiation is expected to shrink the breast by anywhere from 5% to 20%.

Follow up photos are shown one year after surgery, immediately after a visit from her Oncologist (note the gauze and tape from a recent blood draw) in her right elbow region. She has exceptionally good symmetry even after breast radiation and a lifted, proportional breast reconstruction result!
