Before and after umbilicoplasty in a 41-year-old woman. After a twin pregnancy and two additional pregnancies, she developed an abnormal appearance to her belly button. She did not want a fully tummy tuck, but instead to create a more normal appearance to her navel.
An umbilicoplasty did just that – through an incision all the way around her umbilicus, the underlying rectus diastasis was repaired, which enabled her belly button to no longer be an “outie.” After surgery, she took a full month off exercise and began scar therapy at six weeks, which involved applying scar gel to her incision and gentle scar massage.
Follow up photos are shown 10 months after surgery. She is very pleased with her surgical results, and is grateful that she did not need to have an abdominoplasty with its associated downtime.
