Before and after abdominoplasty and liposuction of the abdomen and flanks in a 42-year-old woman. She chose to do her Mommy Makeover procedure stepwise, with a mastopexy and augmentation first, and two years later, her tummy tuck.
Her goal was to “still look like a Mom,” but to have an improved figure and abdominal contour. Since she knew how she healed now from her augmentation and breast lift scars, she was less nervous about creating new scars on her abdomen. She was excited to lose many of her stretch marks!
An abdominoplasty removed excess skin and fat from her lower abdomen. The rectus abdominis muscles were repaired back together in the midline. Her tummy skin was pulled downward snugly, and her belly button was brought out through a new incision. Liposuction removed excess fat from her upper and lower abdomen, pubic region and anterior flanks.
Follow up photos are shown 1 year after surgery, with fading scars and an improved belly contour. For this patient, staging her procedures two years apart worked best for her. For other patients who are 100% confident they want to have several procedures, it makes sense to have them at the same time – one surgery, one recovery, one cost!
