Before and after abdominoplasty and circumferential liposuction of the body in a 55-year-old woman. She had minimal abdominal muscle separation and was primarily focused on removing fat from her abdomen, flanks, inner and outer thighs and to improve her lower abdominal “shelf” above her C-section scar.
An abdominoplasty without rectus abdominis muscle repair (often called a mini-abdominoplasty if muscle repair is not done) was performed – although there was nothing “mini” about the amount of tissue we removed! Her belly button was not also repositioned but left on its natural stalk.
The lower abdominal scar is usually the same length in a mini-abdominoplasty as for a full abdominoplasty, as it involves removal of excess tummy fatty tissue and skin. See the last set of images to see the abdominal skin and fat that was excised during her Mommy Makeover. If you look closely, you can see her C-section scar on the specimen – note that she also had a mons reduction (the pubic region), which improved the contour of her mons pubis.
Liposuction permanently removed fat from her upper and lower abdomen, flanks, hips, inner thighs, outer thighs, banana roll and the pubic region through several tiny incisions hidden in skin creases wherever possible. The actual fat removed during her procedure is shown in the last image.
Follow up photos are shown 3 years after surgery, with mature scars and a contoured, feminine result. She has had a few weight fluctuations but has maintained a very acceptable aesthetic outcome.
