Before and after bilateral breast implant revision in a 67-year-old woman. She traveled to San Francisco from another state, as she could not find a local Plastic Surgeon who would convert her submuscular implants to on top of the muscle – she was told “you’re too thin,” “they won’t look good.” How about listening to the patient???
Her revision involved removal of the old implants, bilateral capsulectomy (removal of scar tissue), replacing her pectoralis major muscles to the chest wall, and creation of a new implant pocket on top of the muscle, in the prepectoral/subglandular position.
New smooth round silicone gel breast implants were placed in this new space. Her drains were removed at one week postoperatively, and she stayed in the Bay Area for a full month after surgery to ensure close follow-up and uneventful healing.
Follow up photos are shown 1 year after surgery. Her formerly tight, uncomfortable animation deformity is gone, her implants are seated more naturally with nicer cleavage, she has much better breast symmetry, and she is back at the gym weight training!
