Before and after bilateral inverted nipple correction in a 24-year-old woman. She was self-conscious about her nipples which never completely became erect due to their inversion. Inverted nipples are akin to a sink hole under a house, that causes the structure to fall inward.
An inverted nipple correction was performed as a straightforward office surgery under local anesthesia. A small incision is made around the base of the nipple. Constricting bands that pull the nipple inward are divided, and the base of the nipple is reconstructed and reinforced internally, like stabilizing the basement of a sinking house before building multiple stories on top.
The nipple is brought out in an everted position. All dissolving sutures are used, including extra sutures placed around the nipple base that act as external buttresses to keep the nipple projecting outward. These stitches are allowed to gradually weaken and dissolve on their own.
Follow up photos are shown 2 months after surgery, with two everted nipples at rest and a normal, natural outcome.
