Before and after left unilateral (single-sided) breast reduction and liposuction of the bilateral axillary rolls in a 21-year-old woman with congenital breast asymmetry. Her left breast was three sizes larger and much more ptotic (droopy) than her right breast.
She originally was considering breast implants on both sides, but a breast reduction on her left larger breast was suggested to achieve symmetry in advance of any breast implant surgery. She agreed with this plan, as she was busy with school and wanted to be able to wear tops without her bra pulling to her left larger side or having to wear a filler in the right cup to even out her breast appearance.
A breast reduction removed two thirds of a pound of excess breast tissue from the left side. Her breast was lifted and reshaped to better match the right side. Liposuction removed nearly three cups of excess fat from her armpits and bra rolls.
Follow up photos are shown 2 years after surgery, with mature scars and greatly improved symmetry to her breasts. Even with some weight loss, she has maintained balance with the rest of her body. She is so pleased it’s her outcome that she no longer is planning to have a breast augmentation - for now, she is very comfortable in her skin and no longer thinks about her breasts when planning her outfits!
