Before and after bilateral breast revision in a 48-year-old breast cancer survivor. She was several years out from a right mastectomy and implant reconstruction with a balancing breast augmentation and lift on the left.
She had a significant animation deformity, seen when she flexed her muscles, and asymmetry that caused her to carefully plan which bra - to wear with which top - or which swimsuit wouldn’t highlight her deformity…. She wanted to keep an implant on both sides but to have a more natural looking result without her “party trick” of muscles jumping and breasts flexing whenever she used her chest muscles or moved her arms.
Her revision involved removed of her old textured silicone implants, separation of her pectoralis major muscles from the chest wall, and creation of a new implant space on top of the muscle, in the prepectoral position. New smooth round silicone gel breast implants were placed in this new space, where her breast tissue previously was on the right.
Follow up photos are shown a year and a half after surgery, with greatly improved symmetry, elimination of her animation deformity, and a very pleased patient!
