Before and after liposuction of the neck in a 27-year-old woman. She was of normal weight and healthy but had an annoying collection of fat under her chin. She wanted a more sculpted jawline but did not want to “go under the knife.”
While all Plastic Surgery procedures generally involve making some sort of incision, liposuction is a minor procedure, and liposuction of the neck is generally done awake, under local anesthesia. We prescribe an oral anti-anxiety medication and offer our patients inhaled laughing gas throughout the procedure to ensure the absolute best comfort and ease.
Over 90 cc of fat (over three ounces) of fat were removed through a single incision hidden under her chin. After surgery, she wore a compressive chin strap for three weeks until the bruising was completely resolved.
Follow up photos are shown 2 months after surgery. She can already appreciate her results and – for the first time – she no longer immediately scrutinizes her neck when she looks at photos of herself!
