Before and after bilateral breast reconstruction using the breast reduction and lift method in a 69-year-old woman with right breast cancer. She was a candidate for a breast reduction anyway, and she did not want to have a full mastectomy as her breast cancer treatment.
After she finished neoadjuvant chemotherapy, a right lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy was planned together with a bilateral breast reduction and lift. After surgery, she underwent right breast and chest wall radiation therapy for five and a half weeks.
Follow up photos are shown a year and a half after surgery, and 15 months after completion of radiation. The right radiated breast is still darker and more swollen than the left, as expected. These radiation-related changes will fade with time.
