Before and after bilateral explantation in a 31-year-old woman who had breast implants inserted over a decade and a half ago. She never felt comfortable, as her surgeon had not listened to her and put in breast implants that she felt were way too big for her body.
Explantation was performed under local anesthesia with an oral anti-anxiety medication and inhaled laughing gas to help make the experience less stressful – and “actually fun,” as per our patient!
After surgery, she worked from home for a week and waited until all bruising was gone before exercising – at two weeks. She showed in 48 hours after surgery and was amazing how quickly her breasts contracted to their pre-augmentation form – within a few days, she was “looking normal!”.
Follow up photos are shown 2 years after surgery, with mature scars hidden in the fold under her breast and her final results. She is very happy. Her left inverted nipple is slightly more noticeable after implant removal – this can be corrected under local anesthesia if it bothers her in the future.
