Before and after right nipple and areola reconstruction in a 56-year-old breast cancer survivor. She previously had undergone a non-nipple-sparing mastectomy and tissue expander reconstruction. At the same time as a breast reconstruction revision, her left nipple and areola were reconstructed.

Nipple and areola reconstruction was performed on the left using the right-to-left free nipple graft technique, also known as “nipple sharing.” Medical tattoo created an areolar circle. Today, we refer patients out to local medical tattoo artists as they do an even better job at creating depth to the circle that helps it look three dimensional.

The right “donor nipple” became fifty percent smaller and maintained its normal sensation. The nipple graft healed very well on the left breast and looked like it had always been there!
