Before and after right immediate breast implant reconstruction in a 37 year old woman with breast cancer. Her nipple was not able to be saved, so a skin sparing mastectomy was planned along with immediate breast implant reconstruction.

A smooth round adjustable saline breast implant was inserted at the time of her mastectomy and was nearly fully inflated. A single addition of saline achieved symmetry with the contralateral breast. At the time of implant port removal, her right nipple was reconstructed by the nipple sharing technique and medical tattoo.

Follow up photos are shown 2 months after nipple reconstruction and a year after implant reconstruction.

Implants are not always required on both sides if only one breast is being reconstructed, and they certainly don’t have to look fake. This patient has very acceptable symmetry and a natural looking breast reconstruction.
