Before and after liposuction of the axillary rolls in a 39 year old woman. She was planning to have a breast lift but also inquired about the extra fat in her armpit region (axillary rolls) and back fat/bra rolls.

Liposuction of these areas greatly improved their appearance.  During liposuction, fat cells are permanently removed via tiny (2-3 millimeter) incisions.  The fat is gone forever, and cannot “come back” in the future.  This is the most common concern and misconception about liposuction and future weight gain.

As long as a stable weight is maintained, results are permanent!  Further weight loss results in fat shrinking everywhere.  If weight is gained in the future, these stubborn areas could possibly expand with additional fat again, as the remaining fat cells have the same genetic propensity to store fat as the ones that were removed.

Follow up photos are shown one year after liposuction of the axillary rolls and a breast lift.  She loves her armpits and now wears tank tops without a second thought!
