Before and after labiaplasty of the labia minora and the clitoral hood (the most common labiaplasty procedure) with reduction of the labia majora in additional in a 45 year old woman.

The excess length and dark coloration of the inner lips of the vagina (labia minora) were bothersome to her, as well as the hanging baggy skin of the labia majora (outer lips) she noticed especially when she was standing in front of a mirror.

Her labiaplasty involved trimming both the labia minora and clitoral hood using the “trim technique” and performing a wedge excision of redundant labia majora as well. Follow up photos are shown 6 months after surgery. She feels less self-conscious now in intimate settings and finds exercise comfortable for the first time since puberty!

Excess labia minora and labia majora tissue is genetic, often developing at the time of puberty. Having multiple children and going through vaginal deliveries does not make it worse. Labiaplasty is a simple outpatient procedure that can help women who dislike the look of their external genitalia or who have discomfort with exercise, sex or wearing tight exercise pants feel more comfortable.

Plastic Surgery is not for everyone, but for this patient, it certainly helped her feel more at ease when naked and eliminated feelings of self-consciousness about her anatomy.
