Before and after mini-abdominoplasty and liposuction in a 51 year old mother. Her body had changed after having children, and she had worked hard to get fit and strong over the last 10 years. However, her belly didn’t reflect all the hard work she had put in!

She did not want to have a full abdominoplasty due to the 6 week downtime. She had minimal abdominal muscle separation; what bothered her most was her lower abdominal overhang and the excess fat rolls.

In this case, a mini-abdominoplasty was appropriate to consider. When a Plastic Surgery procedure is called “mini”, this indicates that the full procedure is not being done. A mini-abdominoplasty does not repair the rectus abdominis muscles back together in the midline. For this patient with minimal rectus diastasis and her personal aesthetic goals, this procedure was perfect for her!

Her lower abdominal skin and fat was excised, and can be seen in the last set of images, which weighed over 2 kilograms (4.5 pounds)! Nearly 5 liters of fat were removed by liposuctioning her upper and lower abdomen, flanks, pubic region, bra roll and upper inner thighs.

Follow up photos are shown 9 months after surgery. Her scar is maturing nicely, she is back exercising without any restriction and she now feels like her body reflects her commitment to healthy living.
