Dr. Horton Discusses Plastic Surgery for Men

In a recent feature for American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS),
Dr. Karen Horton
sat down with fellow ASPS Member and colleague Dr. Jamie Moenster to discuss current trends in Plastic Surgery for men. As a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon in San Francisco, Dr. Horton uses her skill and expertise to serve a diverse range of clients. She and Dr. Moenster talk about the techniques they use specifically to treat male patients and the aesthetic procedures that their own husbands have had.

Current Plastic Surgery Trends for Men

Dr. Horton shares that the top Plastic Surgery procedure requested by men is liposuction. Men who work out and eat well, but still have regions of unwanted fat, can optimize their physique with liposuction with a few weeks of downtime, or CoolSculpting for a more subtle result, but no downtime at all.
Male patients seeking a younger look often turn to Botox, an injectable wrinkle reducer that is a gold standard in non-surgical anti-aging. Patients trust Dr. Horton and Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner Emily Sespaniak to provide natural-looking Botox results that deliver a rejuvenated look that never looks tight or frozen.

Fillers are for men too! As we age, we can expect loss of volume in our faces. Strategic injection of fillers can help restore lost volume and youthfulness but maintain a natural look.

Lastly, “moobs” (male breast tissue) can be removed using a special technique of liposuction that breaks up this stubborn fat with ultrasound before suctioning it out with strong liposuction.
