Frequently Asked Questions
PRF EZ Gel uses your own blood to create a natural, temporary filler that encourages your skin to renew itself and produce a refreshed, rejuvenated look without off-the-shelf products. Results build gradually as your body regenerates its own natural tissue over the following weeks.
Many patients want to restore lost volume and improve skin quality using only what their body already makes, with results that keep building over the following weeks rather than all at once. At Karen M. Horton, MD ‘s San Francisco Plastic Surgery practice in San Francisco, Danielle Bautista, NP now offers PRF EZ Gel, bringing that option to the practice for the first time.

What Is PRF EZ Gel?
PRF EZ Gel is a treatment that improves skin quality and adds subtle volume by putting your body’s own healing process to work. It’s what’s known as regenerative: rather than just filling a space, it encourages your body to rebuild collagen and new soft tissue over time, guided by Danielle Bautista, NP throughout the process.
PRF stands for platelet-rich fibrin, an evolution of platelet-rich plasma (PRP). It concentrates your body’s own growth factors without added chemicals, so everything in the treatment comes from you.
If you’re interested in a regenerative option for volume loss and rejuvenating the skin, PRF EzGel is an alternative that could be for you.

How Does PRF EZ Gel Work?
The process starts with a simple blood draw, performed by our own Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner. Danielle then spins your blood in a centrifuge right in her treatment room to separate out its natural growth factors.
This process produces platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), which holds your body’s growth factors in suspension. Danielle mixes the PRF with your plasma to create a temporary dermal filler. The two components work together to keep growth factors signaling regeneration for three to four weeks. A 2020 study found that injectable PRF led to meaningful improvement in skin texture, firmness, and patient satisfaction.
Danielle then gently injects the mixture into the area or areas you want to treat.
While your blood is processed, which takes about 25 minutes, Danielle applies a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable. Once the PRF and EZ Gel are combined, injections begin. Tear trough treatment takes under 10 minutes, tear trough plus mid-face takes about 20 minutes, and the perioral area takes about 10 minutes.
You’ll see results right away, and you can expect mild swelling for one to three days afterward. Avoid NSAIDs for two weeks after treatment (Tylenol is fine), and skip the sauna or vigorous exercise until the next day. These won’t harm your results, but they can increase swelling.
If volume restoration is not your primary goal, PRF can be injected on its own for its regenerative effect, which is how it is used on the scalp. A 2024 review also found improvements in skin texture and elasticity for facial rejuvenation patients.
What Areas Can PRF EZ Gel Treat?
Danielle commonly treats the following areas with PRF EZ Gel, and it is common to treat several areas in a single session:
- Tear trough (under eyes)
- Front of the cheek
- Lateral cheek
- Chin
- Upper lip
- Temples

What Is PRF Scalp Treatment for Hair Thinning?
PRF Scalp uses platelet-rich fibrin from your own blood to support the hair follicles beneath your scalp. Danielle injects the PRF solely into the scalp for its regenerative properties..
PRF is commonly injected into the scalp to help maintain hair fullness, and it may be a good fit if you are noticing early thinning. Early research is encouraging: a 2024 systematic review found that three studies of injectable PRF reported noticeable improvement in hair density and growth. The research is still limited and results vary, so Danielle will talk through realistic expectations with you during your consultation.
Frequently Asked Questions
The added volume typically lasts about three weeks, until your body fully reabsorbs it. The skin-quality benefits are different: because PRF keeps signaling your body to rebuild collagen, many patients continue to see smoother, healthier-looking skin for months after a single session.
PRF EZ Gel involves a simple blood draw followed by a series of gentle injections. Many patients tolerate the treatment well.
Because PRF EZ Gel uses your own blood, it carries a low risk of allergic reaction or rejection. Danielle will review your health history during your consultation to confirm you are a good candidate.
Because PRF EZ Gel is built around your unique treatment plan, including how many areas you treat and how many sessions you need, cost varies from patient to patient. Danielle will walk you through pricing during your consultation, and financing options through Cherry, PatientFi, and CareCredit are available to help fit treatment into your budget.
