Before bilateral breast reduction and lift with liposuction of the axillary rolls in a 20-year-old woman. The size of her breasts was preventing her from exercising without wearing two or three sports bras, and they attracted unwanted attention from strangers.
A breast reduction removed over a pound of excess breast tissue from each breast. Her remaining breast tissue was rearranged and reshaped into a more round and lifted contour. Liposuction removed excess fat from her armpits and bra rolls.
Early follow up photos are shown just 6 weeks after surgery. Note that her incisions are slightly raised and bright pink due to increased blood flow of immature scars. Her areolas are flat, stretched and non-reactive, which is also normal for so early on after surgery.
Eventually, her motor nerves will wake up and the areolas will constrict normally, causing them to decrease in size and change shape, just as for normal breasts when they are exposed to cold or touch. Her scars will also fade with time to become barely imperceptible – just like other scars on her body.
