Before and after liposuction of the body in a 45-year-old woman. She was unable to work off fat that had accumulated over the last decade since having children in her abdomen and flanks, extending around the back to her lower bra rolls. She felt strongly that she didn’t want a tummy tuck and was willing to see how much her abdominal contour could be improved by liposuction alone.
Liposuction permanently removed fat from her upper and lower abdomen, pubic region, circumferential flanks, lower back and upper inner thighs through several tiny incisions hidden in skin creases and alongside moles or other natural skin markings. After surgery, she wore a formal postoperative compression garment until her bruising was all gone (3-4 weeks), followed by shapewear under her clothes until three months.
Follow up photos are shown 3 months after surgery. She has a small amount of loose lower abdominal skin that is accentuated by her old C-section scar. We will wait a full year for her skin contract – at that point, we can discuss a minor scar revision to trim some of this extra skin, which can be done awake under local anesthesia with inhaled laughing gas and an oral anti-anxiety medication.
