Before and after liposuction of the abdomen, pubis, anterior flanks and upper inner thighs in a 63-year-old woman. She had embarked on a weight loss journey through dietary changes and working out, but her abdominal rolls prevented her from doing some of the activities she wanted.
She knew she had a ways to go with additional weight loss, but she was hoping that some of her fat could be removed as an interim procedure. Liposuction was a reasonable plan for her at this stage in her weight loss journey. While she was also a candidate for a full abdominoplasty, she was not ready for this more involved downtime and physical recovery. She had very realistic and reasonable expectations for her Plastic Surgery procedure.
Over four liters of fat was removed using liposuction from her upper and lower abdomen, pubic region, and her love handles from the front side of her body. After surgery, she wore compression garments for a full three months to facilitate skin contraction.
Follow up photos are shown 9 months after surgery. She can easily bend over to tie her shoes and pick up her cat now, activities she previously found difficult. While her results are not as impressive as a tummy tuck would be, she is very satisfied with her outcome and can do more complex moves in yoga and Pilates now!
