Dr. Karen Horton Participates in BRA Day 2019 to Raise Awareness of Breast Reconstruction for an 8th Successive Year

Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day, also known as BRA Day, aims to educate the public about reconstructive options available to women after breast cancer. BRA Day 2019 is on October 16th, and San Francisco Plastic Surgeon Dr. Karen Horton is participating for the 8th year in a row.

About Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day

The purpose of BRA Day is to ensure that every woman who undergoes a lumpectomy or mastectomy understands her reconstructive options and is aware that insurers are required to cover reconstructive care. Breast reconstruction is not the right choice for every woman, but the goal of BRA Day is to empower each patient to make an educated decision for themselves.

BRA Day is a collaborative campaign that involves Plastic Surgeons specializing in breast surgery, nurses, breast cancer support groups, sponsors, and several professional organizations. BRA Day also supports the Breast Reconstruction Awareness Fund, which provides financial assistance to uninsured or under-insured women seeking breast reconstruction following a lumpectomy or mastectomy.
